A Cry for Attention

The car parked illegally in a driveway in Maywood, Ill., probably couldn’t go unnoticed by law enforcement: the driveway led to the Cook County sheriff’s office. Deputies who checked it also noticed a statue of Jesus Malverde on the center console — the supposed “patron saint” of drug traffickers. Sure enough, they found 50 kilos of cocaine in the car, and arrested Jose Ramirez-Rodriguez, 23, and Efrain Rodriguez-Juarez, 32, on drug charges. “Clearly the narco-saint doesn’t protect everyone,” a sheriff’s spokeswoman said. (RC/Chicago Sun-Times) ...I don’t know: it did a pretty good job for the deputies involved.
