A Fool for a Client

When Philome Cesar, 32, was charged with a months-long string of 25 robberies in Lehigh County, Pa., he decided to represent himself at his trial. He called a victim to the witness stand to cross-examine him, and asked what the masked robber “sounded like.” Daryl Evans’ reply was simple: “He sounded like you.” Cesar was rendered speechless, but the jury erupted in laughter. Cesar then asked another witness the same question. Charlotte Sine answered, “It sounded exactly like you.” With that, Cesar gave up on the question. (RC/Allentown Morning Call) ...But it makes it a lot easier for the jury to answer the question that will be put to them.
