Another Baby Needs His Bottle

An unnamed man in Madison, Wisc., called police to report he was robbed of a bottle of brandy. “He bought the booze and shortly afterward was robbed of the brandy and his wallet at knifepoint” by the two young men he intended to share it with, reported police spokesman Joel DeSpain. A police dog followed the trail and found two backpacks, but the robbers got away. “The brandy was in one backpack,” DeSpain said, but “the victim became very upset when informed it was evidence and he wouldn’t be getting it back immediately.” Perhaps “upset” doesn’t cover it: the 50-year-old man threw a tantrum, laying in the street demanding police return his bottle. When officers ignored the request, the man made a number of 911 calls to report his missing booze — and was arrested for making false crime reports.
