Armed and Dangerous

Convenience store clerks are learning that there are many potential defenses available when taking on an armed robber. In one case, a clerk in San Diego, Calif., was held up by a man who had scrunched up a black glove into the shape of a handgun. When the clerk saw what the “gun” was, he countered with his very real screwdriver and told the man to leave, which he did. And Waltham, Mass., clerk Jackie Patel chased off a machete-wielding robber — with a feather duster.
