Avenue of Appeal

Braden Robinson, 55, lost his lawsuit, but he didn’t let one court’s decision settle the matter, police say. The man he sued said Robinson had accused his family of torturing and killing one of Robinson’s relatives — a part-owner, supposedly, of the Barq’s root beer company. Robinson was thrown out of court for causing disturbances, police said, and Robinson’s case was thrown out for lacking evidence. With that, an Orleans Parish, La., judge ordered Robinson to pay the defendant $100,000. As the defendant was crossing a street near the courthouse, he was hit by a truck, twice. Police say Robinson was the driver, and he’s been jailed on an attempted murder charge — in addition to charges from a SWAT standoff police say he got into later the same day. (AC/New Orleans Times-Picayune) ...In light of what happened last time Robinson lost a case, prosecutors are considering letting him win this one.
