Bang, Bang, You’re Dumb

Nathan Entingh, 10, was suspended from Devonshire Alternative Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio, for pointing a “level 2 lookalike firearm” at a fellow student’s head and pretending to shoot. Entingh made the fake firearm himself — with his finger. “He said he was playing,” said Nathan’s father, Paul Entingh. “It would even make more sense maybe if he brought a plastic gun that looked like a real gun or something, but it was his finger.” A district spokesman said that the kids had been warned of potential consequences for using finger guns. “The kids were told, if you don’t stop doing this type of stuff, there would be consequences,” the spokesman said. “It’s just been escalating.” When asked to reflect on his suspension, Nathan said, “I was thinking it was dumb.” (MS/Columbus Dispatch) ...And so a ten-year-old succinctly summarizes all zero-tolerance policies.
