Banker’s Hours

Alabama’s “Occupy Birmingham” protestors called for a march to the downtown branch of the Wells Fargo Bank. The action was a protest against the bank receiving billions in “bailout” money from President George W. Bush’s “Troubled Asset Relief Program”, or “TARP”. Their online protest page had 24,000 supporters registered, who were asked to go into the bank and ask tellers for whatever money they had on deposit there. Then someone pointed out that the date of the protest — November 5 — was a Saturday, and the branch wouldn’t be open. The protest went on as scheduled, with an estimated 75 people marching on the closed bank; five protestors said they closed their accounts at the branch. (RC/WJRR Cocoa Beach, WBRC Birmingham) ...Would it be a surprise to hear the branch opened 25 new accounts that week?
