Bloody Cyclists

Toby Hockley and his friend Jay Sexton were riding their bikes in Norfolk, England. “A car came around the corner, narrowly missing Jay,” Hockley said. “The car was heading over to my side of the road,” he continued — and then he was hit. The car’s driver, Emma Way, 22, later posted on Twitter: “Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier. I have right of way — he doesn’t even pay road tax! #Bloodycyclists.” Way denied — and was acquitted of — any fault in the crash, but was convicted of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report it. “The tweet was spur of the moment,” she said in court. “It was ridiculous and stupid and I apologize to all cyclists. It is the biggest regret of my life so far.” After the case, she refused to comment, saying she had signed an exclusive television deal.
