But Lots of Tolerance for School Employees Acting Like Children

A teacher’s aide at Marshfield (Wisc.) High School has been arrested and charged with drunk driving and child neglect after taking two 16-year-old students out of school and allegedly sharing alcoholic beverages with them. She then crashed her car — with the kids inside — and fled the scene of the accident. The unnamed 52-year-old woman already has two drunk driving convictions. “We do not comment on the specific details of an incident while an investigation is pending, such as in this case,” said School Superintendent Peg Geegan, “but we want to assure our families and the public that the district has policies and procedures in place to protect students.” Geegan said the aide hadn’t returned to work since her arrest, but wouldn’t say if she had resigned or was suspended. (RC/Marshfield News-Herald) ...So apparently that policy is, “Two drunk driving convictions: still fully qualified to work with kids, but a third offense may or may not cross the line.”
