C’mon — They Swept the Driveway First

Neighbors in Ogden, Utah, called police after hearing “mooing” from a family’s yard, then a shot, then silence. When an officer arrived, the family was butchering the cow in their driveway. The man of the house denied shooting the cow — which would be illegal in a residential area — saying it had been delivered dead. “It boggles my mind,” a police spokesman said. “It’s not illegal, but it’s absurd that people would think slaughtering a cow in their driveway is OK.” The unidentified family’s 18-year-old son defended their actions. “It’s for personal use. Lots of people do it,” he said. “It’s not like we did it in the middle of the street.” The pastor of the Ogden First Presbyterian Church, which is across from the family, defended them. “They are wonderful people,” said Pastor Rick Minnich. “A really nice family.” (RC/Ogden Standard-Examiner) ...Indeed: they have the minister over for dinner all the time.
