Can You Hear Me Now?

After being pulled over by police in Geelong, Vic., Australia, an officer asked Eilish De Avalon, 40, for her driver’s license. De Avalon said she didn’t have one because “I’m a being from another world and don’t require one.” She then told the officer, “Your laws and penalties don’t apply to me. I’m not accepting them. I’m sorry, I must go, thank you.” She rolled up her window and drove off, which was unfortunate because the officer’s arm was caught in the window. She dragged him at speeds of up to 60 km/h (37 mph) before he was able to grab her keys from the ignition when she slowed down for traffic. He suffered serious injuries. De Avalon, who also says she’s a witch, pleaded guilty to recklessly causing injury, dangerous driving, driving with a suspended license, and the original charge she was pulled over for: using a mobile phone while driving. She was sentenced to six months in jail (with four suspended), and fined A$1,250 (US$1,110). Her sentencing hearing was held on Friday the 13th. (RC/Geelong Advertiser) ...Aliens use cell phones?
