Canuck Common Sense II

While testifying in court in a routine case, Toronto, Ont., Canada, police Const. Sasa Sljivo described how he strip-searched the suspect. Wait... what? asked a number of interested parties. Sljivo says he always strip-searched every suspect, since that’s what he was taught by his training officer. Toronto Police policy strictly forbids that except under very exacting circumstances, and the admission triggered an investigation. “There is a clear policy that must be followed,” said Toronto Police Services Board chair Alok Mukherjee. “The officer said he wasn’t aware of the case law.” Investigators found that Sljivo stripped “hundreds” of suspects, which jeopardizes every resulting prosecution. (RC/Toronto Star) ...Wait until they start looking into his traffic stops.
