Charity Begins at Home

A group of missionaries on the way to do relief work after the Haiti earthquake left something important behind at a hotel near the Miami, Fla., International Airport: a satchel stuffed with $6,000 in cash. Hotel housekeeper Jeanne Mydil, 50, found it. Ironically, Mydil is from Haiti; her sister’s husband was killed in the quake. Mydil’s own husband happened to die the week before the find, and had no life insurance. Still, Mydil, who is raising three children, turned the cash in to her manager. The missionaries thanked Mydil with $100, and went on their way, saying “We pray that God will bless your honesty.” (RC/Miami Herald) ...Because they certainly don’t plan to.
