Lodi, N.J., Police Chief Vincent Caruso made it a direct order to one of his officers: “I said, ‘I’m ordering you to give her a ticket,’” Caruso confirmed to a reporter later. The “she” involved is his wife, Paula, and she had double-parked while dropping off the couple’s son at school. It’s the second time Caruso has ordered an officer to give her a ticket, and this one is going to cost $54. “I love my wife dearly,” the chief says. Paula, embarrassed by the publicity, refused comment to reporters, so he went on. “She’s amazing. She’s very busy. She has three kids under the age of 5.” However, he adds, “she’s not above the law. I didn’t want her to get any special treatment because of who she is.” (RC/Bergen Record) ...I’m not sure the chief will get anything “special” for awhile either.
