Crime Tip

A repairman in Glendale, Ariz., called police to report someone had tried to steal about $300 worth of copper wire from his truck. A spool of wire had been pulled away from the truck, but then left behind. As the technician looked at the mess behind his truck, he found some evidence of why the thief stopped mid-crime: wound up in the wire was a fingertip that had been severed in the theft attempt. Police obtained a fingerprint from the severed digit, which led them to Joshua Allen Goverman, 29. Meanwhile, Goverman had posted a photo of his hand on Facebook, showing a bloody finger stump. Goverman noted that he “Got it cought [sic] in a fan belt of car while helping a friend.” When confronted by detectives, that story “slightly changed when Joshua observed the other half of his finger, now residing in the Glendale Police evidence room,” a police spokeswoman said. “You might say Joshua’s finger had its own version of the story to tell, and pointed Joshua directly to jail,” where he was booked on a theft charge. (RC/KTVK Phoenix) ...On the way in they did not let him pass “Go” nor collect $200.
