Don’t Forget the Rock ’n’ Roll!

Dan D’Amato, 45, freely admits he was up to no good in an Orlando, Fla., motel room: he had hired a couple of hookers for a “24-hour party” of sex and “maybe” drugs. At about 4:00 a.m., “all hell broke loose in that room,” he said. Security camera footage shows a man with an AK-47 firing into the room. D’Amato was hit once, and dragged himself to the motel office for help. He now says he’s grateful for being shot: while he was in the hospital, doctors found two tumors in his lung that he didn’t know were there. One weighed as much as 4 pounds. “[The surgeon] said, ‘Dude, getting shot saved your life’,” D’Amato said, adding he is turning around his life, which previously involved theft and trespassing arrests. “The fact that I almost died alone was a wake-up call for me,” he said. The gunman is still at large. (RC/Orlando Sentinel) ...Sure: he needs to be around to make sure D’Amato makes good on his promise.
