Dumped

When a homeowner in New York, N.Y., had a big pile of wood, furniture and other “bulk refuse” in front of their home on trash day, it was up to sanitation worker Lenworth Dixon, 56, to load it up in the trash truck. The apologetic homeowner gave Dixon a $20 tip. That detail was apparently revealed by a secret camera on the trash truck — it’s a violation of city ethics rules for a civil servant to take a gratuity for doing their jobs. Dixon was fined $1,500, and then forced to retire after 24 years on the job. (RC/New York Daily News) ...But there would be no problem if garbagemen ran for office and accepted “campaign donations.”
