Elfin Safety

The Friends of Lava are trying to stop a highway project in Iceland. The issues they’re bringing to the country’s Supreme Court: impact on the environment, and disturbance of elf habitat. The “Hidden Folk” allegedly have a church that would be affected by the project. Elves figure in Icelandic planning discussions so often that road bureaucrats have a stock answer for elf questions. “Issues have been settled by delaying the construction project ... while the elves living there have supposedly moved on,” they say. Environmentalist Andri Snaer Magnason said he was mostly concerned about a lava field and nesting sites, but “I got married in a church with a god as invisible as the elves, so what might seem irrational is actually quite common.” (AC/London Guardian) ...Just another elfin environmental group gettin’ in people’s elfin way.
