Even Cops Come Up with Lame Excuses

The police chief in Deer Park, Texas, was sick and tired of ongoing complaints from officers that someone was stealing food out of the department’s break room refrigerator, so he authorized a hidden camera to keep an eye on it. It quickly caught a suspect: officer Kevin Yang allegedly took a drink marked with a detective’s initials, and the next day took another one. For three weeks the camera watched, and “The same officer was taking the items each time,” said Chief Greg Griggs, including drinks and freshly purchased food. Yang was cited for theft, and given a 30-day suspension without pay. But Yang is protesting. “A lot of times we clean up the community refrigerator like once a week,” Yang says, and he was just trying to be helpful by “cleaning out” the fridge. (RC/KTRK Houston) ...Right. And the guy he arrested last month was just trying to be helpful by “cleaning out” the bank.
