Fooled Him Once

Jane Rainboth was in bed in her Deerfield Beach, Fla., apartment when a man stuck his head into her bedroom. The startled woman grabbed a pistol from her nightstand and screamed, “I got a gun! I got a gun!” — and the man ran out of her apartment. The gun was a toy. “I guess if somebody tells you they’ve got a gun, you don’t want to stick around to find out if it’s real or not,” she told a reporter. But the police were a different story. When they arrived, she was outside, still holding the gun. “They said, ‘Put the gun down! Put the gun down!’,” she remembers. She told them it was just a toy, but they insisted, and she did what she was told. Officers searching the area caught a suspect, Roland Stuart, 27, and Rainboth identified him as the culprit. He was held on $75,000 bond. Rainboth is thinking about buying an alarm system. (RC/South Florida Sun-Sentinel) ...Better buy a gun: when he reads this, he’ll be back as soon as he makes bail.
