Fresh Pine Scent

A forest ranger checked a forest preserve in Will County, Ill., and, not seeing anyone inside the daytime-only facility, locked the gate and left. But after darkness fell a man called asking to be let out. “The same officer went back and asked [the man] where he had been,” said a spokesman, “and he admitted he was driving on the trails,” which is illegal. But the officer was suspicious, and “was given consent to search the vehicle.” The officer found 19.6 grams of cocaine hidden under the car’s stereo. Christopher A. Pilarski, 38, was arrested on drug charges. (RC/Joliet Herald-News) ...Pilarski may be in jail, but he’s not out of the woods yet.
