Galoshes, Rubbers — What’s the Difference?

The ongoing flooding in Thailand is calling for extreme measures by the government. Helicopters are ferrying in emergency supplies to the Lop Buri province. Among the top needs, in addition to food and medical supplies: condoms. “Local volunteers told us that villagers have nothing to do during the floods,” said a spokesman for the Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand, “so to prevent a baby boom we added condoms too.” (RC/AFP) ...And in emergencies, they make excellent flotation devices.
