Gotta Watch Those Lunch Ladies

In the cafeteria at North Springs (Ga.) High School, students had a choice of five checkout lines. Four of the lines had cash registers to keep track of the money. The fifth line, allegedly run by cafeteria manager Brenda Watts, had ala carte items and was cash only — with no register to keep track of the sales. According to arrest warrants, Watts pocketed $500 per day from that line, totaling an estimated $1.35 million over a period of at least 15 years. When a reporter visited Watts’ 5,400 square foot, five-bedroom home for a statement, nobody answered the door, but a late-model Mercedes pulled out of the garage and drove off a short time later. (MS/WSB Atlanta) ...“Gimmie your lunch money” — the next generation.
Story Update: Watts pleaded guilty but amazingly got no jail time: she merely was ordered to pay restitution.
