His So-Called Life

A student on spring break from Alabama called the sheriff in Bay County, Fla., to report he had been robbed. His friends had “ditched” him, he said, and then a man outside the local Walmart put a gun to his head and took $100 from him. The deputy asked for details, and the man said the robbery occurred outside Walgreen’s. Walmart or Walgreen’s, the deputy asked. Outside the gas station, the unidentified 19-year-old man said. “It was obvious if something had occurred [he] was too intoxicated to assist in any investigation at this time,” the deputy wrote in his resulting report. “I noted [he] had urinated on himself, and he could hardly stand.” The deputy told the man to call them when he was sober if he wanted to pursue the matter. (RC/Northwest Florida Daily News) ...Sober or not, he’ll probably never quite get why his friends “ditched” him.
