House Call
Sheriff’s deputies in Fort Bend County, Texas, say two men who burgled a home’s storage shed didn’t get very far: they ran out of gas 100 yards away as they made their getaway. But that’s not what brought law enforcement in: the men had gone from door to door with a gas can, asking for fuel, leading more than one of the neighbors to call 911. Deputies, suspicious of the men and their cargo, which included a lawn mower inside their SUV, arrested Cody Allen Andel, 24, and Herman Dewayne Ephran, 34. “The story of cutting grass at 3:00 a.m. didn’t really fit,” a department spokesman said.
