How Is She Supposed to Pay That Without Access to Her Purse?

Tiffany Simpson-Nijera, 25, of Clewiston, Fla., called the sheriff with an interesting problem: her purse had been stolen, and the thief had sent her a text message with a ransom demand. He first asked for $100, but later increased the price to $200. She set up a time and place to make the exchange, and sheriff’s deputies surrounded the spot. When they saw the trade take place, they moved in. Michael Rawls, 29, was charged with dealing in stolen property, and unlawful use of two-way communications.
