How Many E.U. Officials Does it Take to Screw in a Lightbulb?

The European Union has banned incandescent light bulbs, as they are only 5 percent efficient — the rest of the energy ends up as waste heat. German authorities at the Cologne-Bonn airport have intercepted a shipment of 40,000 bulbs imported from China. DTG Trading owner Siegfried Rotthauser had ordered them with plans to sell them as 95 percent efficient “Heatballs”, claiming the stunt was a “resistance art project.” No dice, Customs officials say. The 75- and 100-watt bulbs will not be delivered. (RC/Germany Local) ...But they may be a helpful tool in the ongoing interrogations of Mr. Rotthauser.
