I Smell a Rat

When a fire alarm was pulled at Blackburn Elementary School in Manatee County, Fla., school officials needed to find the perpetrator — or risk paying a fine. Thankfully, they were able to catch him on video as he went to the wall, looked around, and then pulled the alarm. The culprit? A sneaky squirrel. “We didn’t have to pay any fines for a false alarm once the fire department realized the little guy was the culprit,” said Todd Henson, director of maintenance and operations for Manatee County Schools. They did, however, trap and relocate the offending rodent. “It’s really hard to fine a squirrel, so he got a stern lecture and was released outside,” Henson said. (MS/WTVT Tampa) ...If bureaucrats can get blood from a turnip, surely they can get a fine from a squirrel.
