In the Pursuit of BeautyElena Caro, 42, died after attempting to undergo cosmetic surgery. She visited the office of two Colombian nationals — Ruben Dario Matallana-Galvas, 55, and Carmen Olfidia Torres-Sanchez, 47 — in the back of a Las Vegas, Nev., floor tile business. According to Caro’s daughter, they gave Caro a shot, then told her daughter to come back later. When she returned, the office was abandoned, and Caro was in the hospital. Both suspects, who were not doctors, were arrested as they were trying to flee back to Colombia, and charged with murder. The procedure Caro wanted: buttocks enhancement. Meanwhile, Dr. Arie Oren, 64, of Montgomery County, Pa., has been accused of inappropriately touching several female patients during weight loss sessions. According to one 39-year-old woman, Oren would claim to need to take waist measurements, then slide the woman’s slacks down and massage her “to break up fat around the hips.” According to the criminal complaint, he told her, “if you have an orgasm, that would burn around 200 calories.” Oren has been charged with indecent assault involving at least six patients. (MS/Las Vegas Sun, Doylestown Intelligencer) ...The shudder of disgust at him touching them would burn a lot more than 200 calories.
