Just a Small Thing, Really

Jayson Laughman, 34, of Deltona, Fla., told deputies from the Volusia County Sheriffs Office that he “went into code red and lost his temper,” his arrest report says. Laughman and his mother’s boyfriend, Michael Airhart, 52, had a “heated verbal argument” and agreed to take it outside to physically fight. Laughman threatened Airhart with a statue, and then things cooled down and Airhart went into his bedroom to watch TV with Laughman’s mother. But Laughman wasn’t as cooled off as Airhart thought: the younger man chopped through the bedroom door with a Samurai sword, deputies say. He then grabbed a couple of kitchen knives and threw them at Airhart, they say, before the older man escaped through a sliding glass door to the outside. Laughman has been charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. And what was the argument all about? Airhart had accused Laughman of taking a can of shrimp. (RC/Orlando Sentinel) ...Not such a small thing: they were jumbo shrimp.
