Learned It Real Good

Jory Enck, 19, was arrested in Copperas Cove, Texas. The charge: three years ago, he went to the library and checked out a study guide for the General Educational Development, or GED, exam, which entitles someone who passes to a certificate that’s considered the equivalent of a high school diploma. But he allegedly failed to return the book — or respond to repeated appeals from the library to do so. “Nobody wants to get arrested over a library book,” said Municipal Court Judge Bill Price. “The other side of that is people that go to our library and can’t have these materials, they’re put out too.” Enck was apparently released from jail after posting a $200 bond — and the book was back in the library the next day, complete with Enck’s library card inside. (RC/KWTX Waco) ...Clearly, he didn’t return the book because he hadn’t passed the test yet.
