Life Goes On

Pia Farrenkopf’s mortgage was paid regularly: she’d set up auto-payment. Her mail didn’t pile up: she’d arranged for it to be returned, since she relied on the Internet. Her lawn was mowed: she had a neighbor do it. According to records, she even voted in 2010 — but officials now think they got the paperwork wrong. It appears that in 2008, she got into her car, in her garage, in Pontiac, Mich., and died. Her body had suffered no trauma, officials say. After Farrenkopf’s bank account ran dry, her house went into foreclosure, and a bank contractor discovered a mummified corpse in her car. Officials are working to identify it. Farrenkopf had nine siblings. “We have been looking for her,” said nephew Eric Logan. “We’ve done everything we could do, shy of us kicking the door ourselves.” (AC/Detroit Free Press) ...Meanwhile, his aunt was kicking something else.
