Lovers’ Lunacy

Michael Cegers, 18, and Jessica Hurley-Smith, 20, went shopping at Lover’s Lane, a sex shop in Libertyville, Ill. “They were taking their time in here,” an employee said. “They were just kind of walking around, looking at everything. What’s also alarming about that is they weren’t in any hurry to go back out to their car.” Alarming because of what they allegedly left in their car: their 9-month-old son. According to the police report, the parents told officers they left their son in the car because “no one under the age of 18 is allowed in the store.” Hurley-Smith also allegedly told police she did not leave the car on with the air conditioning running because it is “unlawful to leave a vehicle unattended with the engine idling.” The report says the baby was “sweating profusely” in the hot car for 20 minutes. The couple was released after being booked on an unspecified misdemeanor charge, and must appear in court later.
