Meat Packer

A man was in a grocery store in Oakland Park, Fla., when an employee allegedly saw him hiding three packages of meat in his pants. The employee notified a manager and followed him out of the store. A passerby, Joseph Patrick, noticed what was going on and yelled at the thief to stop. According to the police report, the shoplifter backed up his car and ran over Patrick’s foot, knocking him down. After driving a bit he stopped, still in view of the witnesses, and removed his license plate and tossed it aside, and then continued his escape. Police simply recovered the license plate and used it to identify the shoplifter as Richard Homer Smith, 56. He was arrested on charges of petit theft, failing to stop and remain at an accident involving injury, and improper backing. (MS/Orlando Sun-Sentinel) ...And littering with gross stupidity.
