Missed the Point

Investigators say a suicide attempt explained a crash in Chandler, Ariz. “For whatever reason, he chose that wall at that time and made it happen as best he could,” said police Sgt. Joe Favazzo. But Nathan Ryan, 27, wasn’t successful in his attempt. Police say he tied a sword to his steering wheel to hold it in place pointing at his chest, then drove into the wall. He didn’t anticipate that the car would simply plow through the wall, he didn’t anticipate that there was a swimming pool on the other side of the wall, and he didn’t anticipate the car’s airbag inflating, bending the sword out of the way and saving him from all but minor injuries. The car ended up at the bottom of the pool and Ryan swam to the surface. (RC/Tucson East Valley Tribune) ...If he really wanted to kill himself, he would have just stayed in the car.
