No Really, We Promise

An 8.6-magnitude earthquake in the Indian Ocean generated a tsunami warning, bringing flashbacks in Indonesia as residents recalled the 2004 quake and tsunami that killed 220,000 people. At a prison in Pidie, Aceh, on the northern tip of Sumatra, jailers released all 62 prisoners on a promise that they would return when the emergency was over. Only 28 did. “But, some of [the 34 others] have called and said they will be back,” said Adj. Sr. Commander Dumadi, chief of the Pidie Police precinct. (RC/Jakarta Globe) ...Well, you can’t really blame them for waiting for the aftershocks to subside.
