Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That

Although Delton Gorges, 71, a school bus driver, pleaded no contest to molesting young boys, he wanted the judge to know something: he’s not gay. Judge Philip Kirk of Waupaca, Wisc., wouldn’t have any of it. “I think you were born gayer than a sweet smelling jock strap,” the judge retorted. Kirk said that in the 1940s and 50s, “no one knew there was a closet to come out of,” and that being gay in a homophobic society “was a terrible life to have to live.” Nor is this a choice Gorges made, the judge continued. “I think that if anyone believes that in the last 10 years or 15 years all of a sudden you developed an interest in homosexuality and young boys, then I must have looked ravishing in my prom dress this year.” Kirk then sentenced Gorges to 7 years in prison, followed by 15 years of “extended supervision.” (RC/Wisconsin Gazette) ...Judge Phil, Dr. Phil — there is no difference!
