Oh Yeah, Great Idea

The recent cold snap that gripped North America turned into an emergency for two men who crashed their car into a ditch on a rural road near Pincher Creek, Alta., Canada. The unnamed duo didn’t see any nearby farmhouses, so they did what they had to in order to keep warm as temperatures dropped to –15C (5F) overnight: they tore the seats out of the car, put them in the middle of the road, and set them on fire. They kept the fire going by adding all of their personal belongings, but the fire eventually burned out and no one had responded to help, so they set fire to the car, too. When the sun came up, they spotted a house nearby and walked to it. In the morning light, someone spotted the smoke plume from the Honda and called the fire department. Firefighters checked at the nearby house and found the two men, both of whom needed medical attention for both burns and frostbite. RCMP Cpl. Jeffrey Feist suggested that if they need help in the future, they might try using their cell phones to call for help — each man had one, he says. (RC/QMI) ...Their main reason for buying cell phones in the first place: “in case of emergency.”
