Sean Owens, 29, was walking to his Cincinnati, Ohio, home from the grocery store when he noticed a man was following him. The man kept following as Owens turned into his apartment building, where the man demanded that Owens give him the beer in his grocery bag. “That would be a crime if I just let him have the beer,” Owens says, so he refused and “pulled out my phone to call the police. There was a brief scuffle and then he decided to walk away.” But that wasn’t the end of it: “That’s when he pulled the gun.” The robber shot Owens twice and then fled without the beer. Owens was treated for superficial wounds, and still maintains “I made the right decision” to resist the robbery. (RC/Cincinnati Enquirer) ...Superficial wounds: right decision. Significant wounds: all bets are off.
