Returning to the Scene of the Crime

The clerk in a gas station in Winnipeg, Man., Canada, asked a customer how he wanted to pay for a pack of cigarettes. “I have a gun, give me whatever you have in your till,” was the answer, remembers the clerk, Satnam Singh. But Singh was in a bulletproof enclosure and simply slammed the window shut. The robber ran, and Singh called the police. As officers took the report, the robber came back. “He said ‘I’m sorry, I was in need of money’,” Singh said. “Then I just closed the window very fast, I came out and told police ‘He’s there, please catch him.’” The suspect was caught, but not named by police. Singh found the robber’s return unsettling. “The second time I think was more scary,” he said. (RC/Winnipeg Sun) ...So it’s come to that: so few people apologize anymore, we need to fear them!
