Slo Wtoget Thejoke

Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority has ruled a furniture store’s slogan “offensive and unsuitable for general display,” even though the store has been using it for 10 years. The store in question, based in Northampton, is called Sofa King, and the slogan touts its prices as “Sofa King Low”. A spokesman for the ASA notes that “Consumer research had found this to be a word so likely to offend that it should not be used in ads at all, even when it was relevant to the name of a product.” A previous investigation of the slogan eight years ago came to a “no action necessary” conclusion. But this time, after three complaints, the ASA banned its use in the company’s advertising. (RC/BBC) ...Surely the store Sofa King knew this was coming someday!
