Stiff Penalty

When her sister died, Ilene Lieberman says, her family canceled the registration on her car and turned in the license plate. Yet three months later, a ticket was mailed to the woman after supposedly being caught on camera running a red light. Lieberman says when she called to object to the citation, she was told that the driver dying long before the ticket was issued was not a valid excuse to get it thrown out, and “someone’s got to pay that ticket or go to court.” Lieberman, a Broward County, Fla., County Commissioner, vows to get death added as a valid exemption under state law. (RC/South Florida Sun-Sentinel) ...Dang. I was hoping she’d send her sister to court.
