Takes One to Know One

Gerald Christopher Prebe, 35, of Clearwater, Fla., was charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle after injuring Terry Butler, 53, in a hit-and-run accident. The charges were raised to attempted murder and police are now investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. Butler is African-American, Prebe is white, and a witness heard Prebe yelling a racial slur as he allegedly purposely accelerated his vehicle toward Butler, who was standing on the side of the road. But, that’s not where the hate crime comes in. According to his interview with police, Prebe thought Butler was of Middle Eastern descent and therefore a “possible terrorist” — thus he felt it best to kill him. (MS/St. Petersburg Times) ...Isn’t this pretty much what the terrorists wanted to accomplish?
