Teen Angel

Cheri Schumann Taylor is absolutely certain she is not dead. In a local newspaper story about an upcoming 40th-year reunion of Kennewick (Wash.) High School’s Class of 1971, reunion organizers lamented that seven students from that class had died since graduation, including Schumann. That was news to her. “It’s not like I dropped off the face of the Earth,” said Schumann, whose married name is Cheri Taylor; she simply moved to the outskirts of Seattle. “I haven’t been [in Kennewick] for 35 years,” she said, “but for goodness sake, I didn’t die.” As for the reunion, “I’m sorry I missed it. It would have been a hoot if I had shown up.” (RC/Kennewick Tri-City Herald) ...Isn’t that typical high school? Half the student body treats the other half as if they didn’t exist.
