That Takes the Cake

A woman brought her 9-year-old daughter’s birthday cake into the Cowlitz County (Wash.) Hall of Justice. “She said she didn’t want to leave the cake in the car because the dog would get into it and eat it,” said sheriff deputy Joe Connor. Unfortunately, Robert Fredrickson saw an opportunity and allegedly grabbed some of the cake. Connor confronted Fredrickson as he was washing up. “I went to get some towels to clean him up before I dealt with him,” Connor said, “and no sooner had I turned my back on him and he was back on the cake again. And then all hell broke loose.” Deputies grabbed Fredrickson and say that as he resisted them, the cake went flying. He was arrested on charges of third-degree theft and resisting arrest. A local store stepped in and replaced the girl’s cake. (MS/KATU Portland) ...More often, criminals start with taking candy from a baby.
