The Man in the Big Bunny Suit Was a Spy

The rabbit in the middle of Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach, Fla., carried a sign: “Have a safe, hoppy holiday. Buckle up!” And if that wasn’t enough to get motorists to use their safety belts, perhaps this was: the man in the bunny suit was a cop, next to him was a cop, and down the street a bit were more cops, handing out tickets for failing to wear seat belts. Drivers who slowed down to enjoy the cuteness — including one who thought the rabbit was homeless and offered $20 — were in fact giving the law the chance to check whether they were belted in. In just the first two hours, the fluffy-tailed sting produced 50 tickets. “You never know where we’re going to be or what we’re going to look like,” said traffic Sgt. Matthew Bessette, who came up with the idea. (AC/Palm Beach Post) ...He says that like it’s a good thing.
