The Rest of the Story

There’s a development in the story about the two Wayne, N.J. Realtors’ alleged tryst in a home they were supposed to be selling. Countersuits filed by Jeannemarie Phelan and Robert Lindsay allege that homeowner Richard Weiner demanded $990,000 from the two and, if they failed to pay, Weiner allegedly threatened to file a lawsuit and publicly release security video of the couple’s escapades in the Weiners’ home. “This is tantamount to extortion,” claims Phelan’s lawyer. The Weiners did file a lawsuit, which accuses Lindsay of inflating the home’s price to keep it on the market so that the two agents could continue engaging in sexual liaisons in the house, which were revealed by security cameras. While Phelan and Lindsay don’t deny their actions, Phelan’s lawyer says there is no basis for a lawsuit and the trysts did not harm the Weiners in any way. (MS/Bergen Record) ...Without a doubt, harm to the Weiners would be the worst part.
Author’s Note: See “House of Ill Repute” earlier in this volume. The New Jersey Real Estate Commission suspended Phelan’s real estate license for 6 months, during which time she was ordered to pay $100 per week as a fine until $5000 was paid, and she was ordered to complete 30 hours of ethics training before she could get her license back. I was not able to find a similar update regarding Robert Lindsay.
