“Are you married?” asks a billboard for Victoria Milan, a Swedish dating web site. “Liven up your life — have an affair.” The ad provoked a “record” number of consumer protests to the RO — the Reklamombudsmannen, or Advertising Ombudsman — for violating the advertising Code of Ethics. But the RO cleared the ad, saying it didn’t rise to the level of offense, being contrary to accepted moral standards, or encouraging behavior that is generally regarded as reprehensible. “We’re launching a service for a behavior that already exists,” said the site’s CEO, Sigurd Vedal. “Our service is an alternative to divorce.” (RC/Sweden Local) ...Try that line on your wife, and then get back to us.
