This Piggy Went Wiggy

Two employees of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Athens, Ga., confronted a shopper as she left the store without paying for her items. But the shoplifter seemed to be well prepared for the possibility of getting caught: she allegedly punched one employee in the face and sprayed the other with a can of pepper spray. A police officer happened to be nearby and heard screaming, and rushed in to apprehend the woman. Lonneshia Shafaye Appling, 26, who was described as “at least 300 pounds,” refused the officer’s order to put her hands behind her back, and another officer had to help arrest her. Appling was allegedly trying to steal lite beer, vegetable oil, five packs of cheese, five packs of bacon, and two packs of chicken wings. Because she had three previous convictions, her shoplifting charge was upgraded to a felony, and she was also charged with aggravated assault, battery, disorderly conduct, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and had several warrants out for her arrest in other cases. (RC/Athens Banner-Herald) ...Strike 47 — let’s hope she’s out for awhile.
