Toying With the Public II

Rich Aleksiejczyk, a police officer who is a member of the Scott County (Iowa) Sex Offender Task Force, was at the Mississippi Valley Fair. He noticed a man dressed as “Cookie Monster” was working the crowd, handing out fliers and letting parents take photos of him with their children. At one point, the costumed man stepped over to Aleksiejczyk to say hello. Aleksiejczyk immediately recognized the man’s voice, but to be sure, he asked the man who he was. The answer was just as he feared: James Lester Rogers, 25, who is a registered sex offender after he was convicted of molesting a 7-year-old girl. Aleksiejczyk called in a uniformed officer to arrest Rogers: he is not allowed to perform that kind of work at all, let alone around children. “The company hired him to stand there and wave,” said fair director Bob Fox. “He was stupid enough to introduce himself to an officer.” (RC/Quad-City Times) ...When it comes to such guys, I’m glad they’re stupid enough to get caught so easily.
